Two bills have been introduced in the U.S. Congress to make universal healthcare a reality: H.R. 676 (the Expanded & Improved Medicare For All Act) and S. 1804 (Medicare for All Act of 2017). Together, they expand Medicare to cover all Americans, regardless of age, income or disability. It eliminates ALL individual healthcare costs, premiums, co-pays and deductibles.

Medicare-for-All adds comprehensive healthcare coverage, including dental, vision, mental health, laboratory fees, long-term health care, medication, medical devices, and services from medical specialists.

Both bills have support from a number of representaties, but they still need more support across the country in order for Medicare-for-All to become a reality.

  2. High-income Surtax of 6% for earners above $225,000/year.
  3. Unearned Income Tax of 6% on unearned income (interest, investments, etc.).
* A tax of 0.5% on stock trades and 0.01% on bonds, swaps or other trades is also expected, but these taxes are excluded from this calculator. Refer to the above article for details.
